Sensei Jerry Marr has more than 40 years experience in Karate, and holds the rank of 7th Dan, JKA. Sensei Marr's promotion from 6th Dan to the rank of Shichi-Dan (7th Dan) was complete in October 2007. Sensei Marr's karate history was presented to the Technical Board of JKS (Japan Karate Shotokai) in Japan by Sensei Katsumata. The JKS Technical Board, after reviewing Marr's technical background and experience and with Sensei Katsumata's recommendation, felt this promotion was highly deserved. He is the Director of Midwest Karate and its affiliates.

Mr Marr is highly regarded and accredited for the development and success of present day Traditional JKA Shotokan, specifically in the prairie provinces. 

Marr Sensei is also highly respected for his technical knowledge of Shotokan Karate; conducting seminars and gradings in Canada and throughout North America. In addition, Sensei Jerr Marr is well known throughout Canada for the Midwest Karate Logo, his sense of humour and his dynamic personality.
